A few weeks ago I received a request from a customer for a graphic with a message of solidarity for first responders. I told Dr. Neilson that I had, "the symbol of Mother Mary with a mask, which was exactly that message." He insisted that I should project a more positive message and he would be proud to wear whatever I designed. What could I do to live up to that challenge? I gathered the symbols - Rainbows, Hearts & Tears - and I arranged them in many different configurations. No matter what I did it seemed inadequate to tell the stories of so many heroes. I reviewed the numbers and listened to the blame game about whose fault COVID is, but what has moved me most is the images and stories of the people on the front lines. Those among us that are brave enough, as well those with no choice, who run towards the virus or who were essential in ways such as keeping the lights on and putting food on our tables. Everybody among us who takes the risks of COVID while the rest of us shelter at home. Many of these silent heroes have been taken for granted.
I WANT TO INSPIRE YOU SHARE THEIR STORIES THROUGH PHOTO ART & WORD.
How to participate.
1.) Use Symbols to make a design - I have provided the SYMBOLS in the Product ELEMENTS.
RAINBOW = FIRST RESPONDERS - HEALTH CARE WORKERS - ESSENTIAL WORKERS
HEART = LOVE, FAMILY, COMPANIONSHIP, LOYALTY, HONOR
TEAR = SACRIFICE, LOSS, DEATH
2.) DECORATE - MEMORIALIZE - Download the blank heart and tear graphic and decorate it to tell your COVID story or to tell the story of a loved one, friend, colleague, or family member.
3.) I WILL HELP if you need help. Just send your elements to me I and I will help you with the artwork. It can be as simple as a photo or anything you see fit to help tell their story.
4.) MOST IMPORTANT Write their COVID story - Tell us how this has affected the person on the front lines and you, and what you wish you could do to honor their life and service. IT CAN BE AS SIMPLE AS THE RIP AND THE NAME OR AS DEEP AS YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE.
5.) PUBLISH IF YOU WILL Keep it to yourself to wear in the person’s honor or Publish and tell their story here and allow others to honor them with you.
