Taxidermy

Taxidermy

DESCRIPTION:

Although some people have negative connotations towards the preservation of animals, it has a uncanny resemblance to the work of a tailor. Like the work of Robert James, the fit is true, the styling is simple yet elegant, and the allure of the clothing is bringing back a style that is timeless. Taxidermy is a timeless art form. Rugged by nature, taxidermy is reliant on form, as is clothing.

The word "taxidermy" is derived from two ancient Greek words; taxis, meaning movement; and derma, meaning skin. Therefore, loosely translated, taxidermy means the movement of skin. This is a fairly appropriate definition as many taxidermy procedures involve removing the natural skin from the specimen, replacing this skin over an artificial body, and adjusting the skin until it appears lifelike.

The stuffed animal becomes a timeless, honest, and handsome memento which preserves a life form in a particular moment in time.
