Bare Knees

Bare Knees

by Shawna Adams
DESCRIPTION:

Simple: taken of my bare undressed knees, a black and white photo exhibiting just the lines that my knees form against a blank canvas;

Honest: the nature of the shoot was self-portraiture, and rather than photographing my face and inevitably the expression on it at the time, which could become the essence of the self-portrait, I wanted to instead photograph something that's constant and unaltered about myself, something that would always represent me;

Handsome: I believe the way the lines outlining my knees converge with each other and contrast against the background is very sensual, and even the idea that it is a photograph of bare knees can be very evocative.
