A Day In the Life of By Robert James by Alex

Hi By Robert James fans! I'm Alex from the midwest! For the next two weeks I'm documenting a "Day in the Life" with Robert James from the shop, to the people he interacts with, to the behind the scenes of his creations to just hanging at the shop with Lola. I will be updating this daily! I hope you enjoy. -Alex

Yesterday, Robert and I took a trip to his factory! It was SO exciting for me since I had never had an experience like this before! I got to see Robert constructing his new creation, the Albert! It's similar to By Robert James' frock coat in shape, but it's shorter! Looked pretty snazzy if ya ask me!
The Albert was named after Queen Victoria's husband. Robert found inspiration from the costumes in the movie The Young Victoria, with Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend. Honestly, if you wear this coat, you'll look like a king!
For the first draft, Robert made the coat to fit himself. He tried it on to see how he can make changes in order for the coat to reach perfection. This was so fun, to be able to see a designer, in person, creating a piece of their collection!
After we visited the factory, Robert sent me on an assignment to pick up more buttons for the Albert! I had never seen this many buttons in my life! I felt like Anne Hathaway in Devil Wear Prada....in a good way.
